Badgley

New York – Mark Badgley and James Mischka, the beloved couturiers of Hollywood starlets and other stylish femmes, showed a sample of the extensive collection they have ready for Cruise 2010 in New York on Thursday, June 11.

Giving women who get dressed up for a night out a taste of what's in store, Badgley Mischka gracefully executed trends recently seen on the runways, like neon brights, ruffles and the one-shoulder look, and smoothly integrated them into an eye-catching collection of gowns and dresses.

The easy, ready-to-wear shirt dress that has been done and redone got a fresh start with a gold-sequined frock decorated with sheer side panels. Gowns were crisp in white as well as tangerine, fuschia, and electric blue, with elaborates of rhinestones and paillettes. And a short sequined cocktail dress that transitioned from sea green to aqua with a silver belted waist was appropriately recognizant of the sun reflecting just off the surface of the ocean. Berlin

BERLIN (Reuters Life!) – Daniel Rodan, Berlin's leather fashion designer to the stars, unveiled a new collection of Berlin Wall art-themed clothing on Tuesday as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the fall of the Cold War barrier.

The leather dresses and menswear feature art from the East Side Gallery, the 1,300 meter-long (4,265 feet) stretch of the Wall painted by 118 artists from 21 countries in 1990. Its graffiti art quickly came to symbolize the Wall itself. Read more ...

Missing John Travolta at "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" Premiere

Denzel

Los Angeles – As director Tony Scott, actor Denzel Washington, and the other stars and executives responsible for the new action thriller "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" smiled and posed on the red carpet at the film's over-the-top premiere in Westwood on Thursday evening, June 4, there was an important player missing from the festivities.

Beloved actor John Travolta did not attend, perhaps the first time in his long career that he has missed one of his own movie premieres. He and his wife Kelly Preston have not faced reporters or the public since the sad death of their teenage son Jett died in January.

As Denzel explained at an earlier press conference for the film, John just isn't quite ready to return to the spotlight.

"I talked to John (recently). Needless to say, he's struggling. He's struggling. More than talking to him, I listened to him, for about two or three hours. It's going to take time. What can you say but just be there as a friend? He's such a sweet, sweet person." Read more ....

Jason Wu Resort 2010: Convertible Chic

Friday, 12 June 2009 22:11 | Last Updated (Tuesday, 30 November 1999 00:00) | Written by Layla Majnun

New York – In the cheerful spirit of Resort 2010, Jason Wu was all smiles on Thursday, June 4, as he showed his collection in a garden-spot in New York, where beams of natural sunlight that crept in through the clouds only further accented his 'highlight' pieces.

In a collection that honed in on a few electric colors, Wu let us taste the rainbow with fan-pleated skirts in both bright red and green, and saved the 'oldie but goodie' highlighter-yellow for the end with a peplum shiftdress that was worth the wait. Pairing these brights with muted shades of grey, Wu played with contrary forces, mixing things up to attain that contemporary look. As he explained, "I love that we paired a jersey T-shirt and a luxurious draped skirt with a diamond bracelet."

Folds were plentiful, as envelope sleeves gave dimension up top, drawing the eye to a modestly sexy neckline, in tandem as pleats and drape skirts gave structure from below the ever-present belt. Blurring the lines between day and evening wear, these electric and shapely pieces can take any woman, at anytime to anywhere. "This is how the modern girl wears it. There's no definition. It's about really convertible clothes," said Wu after the show. Read more ...
